Full Hydraulic and Safety System Overhaul on a Boom Crane

A hydraulic leak on a crane is never just a leak. That's the thing most people don't realize. Once oil starts finding its way out, it usually means seals are compromised, contamination has worked its way in, and the rest of the system has been under stress it shouldn't have been. You don't patch something like that and call it a day.

On this one, we pulled the hydraulic tank completely off the crane - you can see just how oil-soaked and worn that tank was before it came off. We cleaned things up, resealed the tank, replaced the hydraulic oil and filter, and put a fresh tank back on. Side by side, the difference between what came off and what went back on tells the whole story.

While we had the crane torn down, we also replaced the wire rope and got the anti-two-block (a2b) system back in working order. The a2b is a critical safety component - it's what stops the hook block from being pulled up into the boom head. When that system isn't functioning right, you've got a serious safety problem on your hands. Getting it dialed back in was just as important as the hydraulic work.

This is the kind of job where cutting corners isn't an option. Cranes move heavy loads, often over people and equipment. Every component has to work the way it's supposed to. We take that seriously, and our approach to crane service reflects it - we don't close out a job until everything checks out.
